It's Official: Goran won't be the new James Bond. After months of media speculation, Daniel Craig was officially confirmed as the new 007 at a London press conference Friday.

The star wattage dims in an endless James Bond bake-off that should finally conclude after screen tests are completed this week. Latest front-burner names are oft-rumored Daniel Craig, Henry Cavill (a contender in the "Superman" sweepstakes), Sam Worthington and Goran Visnjic.

Lack of star power comes from rights-controlling Broccoli family's unwillingness to break precedent and pay gross points to an 007, which eliminated rumored stars like Clive OwenClive Owen. They'll surely get their Bond for a fraction of the $25 million or so paid on the last film to Pierce BrosnanPierce Brosnan before he was dumped. Martin CampbellMartin Campbell starts production in January on "Casino Royale" for Sony.

TV Guide's Ausiello recently confirmed that Goran is in the running for the role of 007 in Casino Royale.

Question: Is it true that Goran Visnjic is among the finalists to take over as James Bond? And what does this mean for him on ER? — Sandy

Ausiello: Yes, it's true. But should he get the role, it wouldn't mean the end of Kovac. "We have a contingency plan," says exec producer David Zabel. "We would film a bunch of stuff [with Kovac] at one time for later episodes. Or, depending on where the Bond film was shooting, he might be able to work on both at the same time. That's what [George] Clooney did. He was shooting Batman & Robin for part of the day and ER the other part."

Goran Brings ER to Sibenik.

We have received sensational news from our American sources, and have checked it with Warner Bros. Studios, one episode of the American hit series ER will be filmed in Goran Višnjic’s home town, Sibenik, a few weeks from now! Of course, this unique promotion of Sibenik, and of Croatia generally, is happening primarily thanks to our Goran. He is now the primary star in the current (10th) season, and his role is expected to grow in importance through the 11th season, which is still being filmed, and will be shown to the American public this fall.
